What is Carbon 60 | C60?

The Carbon 60 molecule was discovered in 1985 by three researchers, Richard Smalley, Harry Kroto, and Robert Curl, all working at Rice University at the time.

C60 molecules are composed of carbon atoms linked to three other carbon atoms by molecular bonds. The carbon atoms are connected in the same pattern of hexagons and pentagons as you find on a soccer ball.

C60 is said to attract free-radicals and, due to the magnetic properties of free-radicals, attaches itself to the C60 molecule, and is then flushed out by the body.

Carbon C60 present in the lipofullerene acts as an anti-oxidant and free radical 'scavenger', helping to maintain overall good health. Fullerene C60 is also known to be able to deactivate hydroxyl radicals by attaching to the double bonds.

Since free radicals are more 'energetic' due to their unpaired electron, they have a tendency to be reactive with other molecules. As a result, most free radicals are unstable and very reactive, and can be harmful to the body. C60 works to neutralise large numbers free radicals. When the cells of the body are relieved of an existing free radical oxidative burden, they can again function at normal efficiency and begin to repair themselves.

How C60 Oil is Made

Ours is a metal-free process by which we begin with mixing Carbon 60 molecules with oil for 1 day. Thereafter, sonication is used to 'open' the oil and further dissolve the Carbon 60. The solution is then mixed for another 14 days to reach a higher saturation rate of approximately 0.8 mg per 1 ml.

Next, the oil is vacuum filtered twice through a 1.0 and 0.22 micron porosity to remove aggregates and bacteria. Finally, the finished Carbon C60 oil is poured into Cobalt glass bottles to protect it from UV light.

Dosing C60 Oil

Proper dosing of Carbon 60 has not been scientifically evaluated, however, we have researched enough feedbacks from customers to feel confident in proposing some general dosing recommendations. For people wishing to experiment with the long term benefits of Carbon 60, we recommend taking one teaspoon per day (approx. 5 ml), every day, we further recommend to have this in the morning due to the energy it can creates and at times may conflict with the sleeping pattern. There are about 20 teaspoons in a 100 ml bottle. Some performance athletes prefer taking higher doses e.g. one bottle at once, one bottle per month. This method provides a noticeable boost in performance for some people.

Storaging C60 Oil

To protect the product from degradation, we recommend storing the oil in a place where it is protected from light, such as a cupboard or use a miron glass bottle which has great UV protection properties. It can be refrigerated but the properties of the oil can change and may cause the oil to harden or lose its viscosity. When stored properly, an unopened bottle of Carbon 60 olive oil has a shelf life of up to two years. Once opened, we recommend using within 30-60 days for maximum quality.
